Desborough Railway Bridge

FROM INITIAL ENQUIRY TO UNITS ON SITE IN 5 DAYS!

At Eccles our AquaDeck team fully appreciate the pressure our clients are often under when carrying out essential maintenance works on the UK bridge network.

Road closures must be kept to an absolute minimum, work planned weeks in advance and once work begins contractors must finish the project on time to enable roads to reopen once more to live traffic.

So it was with the A6 Railway Bridge at Desborough, a project that involved removing the existing carriageway and verges to expose the bridge deck, installing new waterproofing and drainage, before re-instating the surfacing and verges so that the bridge could be opened up once again to traffic.

The project needed completion quickly to keep disruption to a minimum, so all parties had to work quickly.

In just five days, from receiving the initial enquiry for the kerb drainage requirement on the deck, to delivering a quality solution to site – we had developed and submitted a design, fabricated special outfall and expansion joint units and transported the units to site in time for essential evening and weekend works.

AquaDeck project director Chris Rothery said: “We had to really pull out all the stops on the scheme as we knew our client could not have delays.

“At one point I was even collecting essential components in my car and taking them to our fabrication shop to ensure the special expansion joints were completed on time!

“We delivered a quality outcome at a very fast turnaround – it’s great to see a project come together and our clients complete the works on time.”
